Hi All,

We've got loads of new posts that will be coming to the blog soon which is very exciting.

A lot of you have said you'd like more information when planning your wedding day and who are we to disappoint!

As we're at weddings so often we'll try to write up (with photos) loads of different stories and tips that may help you. We'll try to cover everything from good ideas we've seen to summaries of venues we've photographed at.

Over the next few weeks I'll be going back over all our archived wedding photos to give new brides and grooms loads of ideas that might help with the planning of their day. These will mainly be wedding photos taken in Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex but we will have further afield venues too as we've been lucky enough to travel to some gorgeous destinations (Scotland and New York to name just two)!

If there's anything you'd like us to write about and show you photos of please let us know and we'll add it to the list.

Spains Hall Wedding Fair

We just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who came to see us at Spains Hall Wedding Fair yesterday. We were busy all day talking to people and had a lovely time. I know a lot of you didn't have exact dates yet but we look forward to hearing from you once you've booked your venues and are in a position to book your photographer.

Spains Hall Wedding Fair - This Sunday (15th January 2012)

I hope that everyone has had a really good Christmas and start to 2012. We've had a lovely break and are now back in the office fully charged, revived and looking forward to a wonderful 2012

We are exhibiting at our first Wedding Fair of the year which is at Spains Hall, Finchingfield, Essex this coming Sunday. We are honoured to be one of three photographers selected from their very long list of photographers to attend this.

It's always great to meet lots of people so if you do get the chance to pop in and see us (past, current or potential future couples) that would be fab. We'll have all the beautiful books and gorgeous albums for you to look at and we will try our best to answer any questions you may have. Even if your day isn't happening at Spains Hall you can still attend and meet many different suppliers that might complete your day for you.

If you can't make it however don't worry there's plenty on my Website for you to look at and we will be exhibiting again in a few weeks time at the Suffolk Wedding Show on Sunday 4th March 2012 (more details will follow nearer the time).

Office Opening Times

Just to let you know that the office will be closed between 24th December to 9th January. We are taking a well earned rest.

We wish all our couples (past, future and potential ones!), family, friends, followers and everyone else a Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful start to 2012

Having said that the office is closed, I will no doubt check my e-mails every few days over the festive period and will answer anything that is truly urgent (if not I will answer all e-mails when we're back in Jan)

Portrait Session in Suffolk

Almost a couple of weeks ago I photographed a lovely Portrait Session with Dawn and Stuart and their gorgeous daughters Poppy and Rose. I'd photographed Dawn and Stuart before at their Wedding at Mendlesham Church and Thornham Walled Garden back in 2006 so it was lovely to see them both again and their expanding family.

Suffolk Wedding Photography - Amanda and Phil's Wedding at Hintlesham Hall, Suffolk

In November we photographed our last wedding of the year which was Amanda and Phil's day. Their entire wedding took place at Hintlesham Hall in Suffolk. We have photographed weddings at Hintlesham Hall many times now and it is a stunning venue with ample opportunities for photos. We were not disappointed again this time and were delighted to see all the Christmas decorations coming out! For a November wedding we were extremely lucky with the weather - we had higher than average temperatures and a beautiful blue sky.

I adore confetti ones but these are especially good as we had lots of enthusiastic guests making sure they were thoroughly covered!

We then went off for a wander to take some of the two of them outside before the light went

Inside Hintlesham Hall they have a stunning long gallery that's great for photos - I love these ones with the windows

We then left them to eat their meal and joined them again for speeches

The room looked gorgeous and the cake was very simple yet beautiful

Suffolk Wedding Photography - The Wedding of Mel and Rich at Butley Church and Butley Priory in Suffolk

Our last September wedding was Mel and Rich's day which took place at Butley Priory in Suffolk. Well we couldn't have asked for nicer weather - unusually for the end of September it was very hot and sunny which was a real treat! This is another wedding where we were fortunate enough to know the vicar from Louise and Phil's wedding which we'd photographed at Ramsholt last year and as we were so well behaved then he let us shoot from both the front and the back of the church which was a real treat.

This was the headpiece that Mel's mum had worn at her wedding - sadly Mel's parents are no longer with us but it was lovely to have so many little touches from their wedding day to be captured in Mel and Rich's day

Mel is incredibly organised and had all the gorgeous little bits and pieces out ready for me to photograph

David started with the boys and the guests arriving at the church - here's Rich and the vicar making sure the paperwork is all correct!

Rich's bestman was his son Lance who did a great job (and I'm told gave a fantastic speech later in the evening although we had left by then)

Rich had the most gorgeous pocket watch - I love the little finishing touches like these

Keeley (Lance's girlfriend) made all the confetti cones and they looked amazing

I love adding a vintage effect when you have an old fashioned horse and carriage to work with

When we arrived back at Butley Priory Lance played the piano for a while which sounded great

For a very tiny part of the reception Mel and Rich's dog walker bought Jess (Mel and Rich's very friendly dog) along to see them both. I'm really pleased they had Jess come to some of the day so that we could get a few photos with her in as well

Mel and Rich's day was quite small in numbers so here's a photo of everyone

There are some lovely photos though, some magic moments, not just of us but family and friends! Really really great, and I haven't even finished going through them yet!!!

Thank you for getting a photo of everyone arriving at the church, I was most concerned about missing that, but no, even Sue the organist is in there, and Alex too :0)

Norfolk Wedding Photography - The Wedding of Mary and Rick at Wortham Church and then the Rookery

Our next wedding we photographed was Mary and Rick's day which took place at Wortham Church followed by a marquee reception at Mary's parents house. This is the second time we've photographed at Wortham Church as Mary's brother David got married there last year and we had the joy in photographing their day as well. As we'd met the vicar before (and with Rick's gentle persuasion) this time we were allowed to take far more photos from both the front and the back of the church which was lovely. We had good weather (overcast most of the time but great for photos!) and a wonderful day.

Mary looked really stunning in her dress and didn't stop smiling all day

There were various pieces of vintage crockery scattered around in the bedroom Mary was getting ready in which I loved using to pop her jewellery on

Mary with her two sister-in-laws (well almost as Rebecca on the right isn't quite married yet but is due to get married soon)

I loved the bridesmaids dresses - such an unusual colour and different style which they all looked fabulous in

What an unusual mode of transport to go to the church in - I'm sure Rick and the best man loved every minute of driving it!

Rick looked really relaxed and excited even before Mary arrived

Here's the first time they looked at each other followed by a selection during the ceremony

I'm drawn to looking at Mary's dad and his big grin in this one!

This was Rick's idea - he really wanted to do a jumping one - I think Mary did exceptionally well considering she's got a long dress and train to consider!

They also wanted to do a running race for the boys photos - by the looks of the scattered boys at the back I think there may have been a little bit of cheating going on!

Thank you everyone for co-operating for the large group shot (and thanks to Pete the MC and Bestman and ushers for helping) - I think it's worth it as now they have a record of you all

Both Mary and Rick really wanted to use the fields and farmyard for the photos of the two of them which worked so well - I love all of these - here's just a small selection

After dinner at dusk I took them out to take just a few more photos as the sky had a wonderful colour to it

Mary's mum made the cake (and all the sugarcraft flowers on it) and she did a beautiful job - she's a very talented lady

Mary and Rick are a truly lovely, relaxed and fun couple to work with and we enjoyed every minute of their day. It was also lovely to meet their friends and family (many of whom we'd met before at Sophie and David's wedding) who were all fantastic and welcoming. We wish Mary and Rick a lifetime of happiness together and hope that they'll share their future news with us.

Also, before I leave this post I'd like to give a big 'thank you' to Sophie and David (whose wedding we photographed at Wortham Church and Dunston Hall last year) for recommending us. It was lovely to see you both again and to meet Alistair - he has to be the closest to a honeymoon baby we've ever had! He's such a lovely little boy. Here's just a little photo of him napping in the evening!

Essex Wedding Photography - The Wedding of Lorna and Torsten at Spains Hall

The next wedding we photographed was at Spains Hall in Essex for Lorna and Torsten's day. Their ceremony took place at Bishops Stortford Catholic Church which was beautiful inside but a nightmare for parking (this is the first time I've had to run a mile with all the camera equipment as there was no nearby car parking!), thankfully their guests were all picked up and transported by some gorgeous, vintage Routemaster buses so they didn't have to worry (although one bus couldn't make it up the hill so some guests did have to walk the last part up to the church!). The reception at Spains Hall was wonderful and our thanks go to Debbie (who was front of house at Spains Hall and is fantastic) for all her help to ensure everything went smoothly on the day.

We were lucky with the weather with the majority of the day being sunshine. We did have a few showers but the results of this were well worth it (see further down the photos!) Here's a selection from their day starting with Lorna getting ready:

We were really lucky that the Canon (Canon Eddie) let me photograph at the front and David at the back so we got a lovely lot of photos during the ceremony

What a well-matched and in love couple. Lorna looks so beautiful in all the photos and Torsten looks very handsome

After the meal Torsten went outside to practice his speech ....

.... he kindly dashed in to tell me there was a rainbow forming and this is the first time for us that I've photographed one at a wedding (so many thanks Torsten!)

In the evening they had a Ceilidh where a lot of people joined in and had loads of fun

They then had a disco to finish off their night and for their official first dance

'Hello Hayley,

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and David for making us so relaxed on Saturday. When I first heard there was a photographer coming to the bedroom I nearly fainted. I hate being photographed at the best of times but the thoughts of a photographer being there while getting ready nearly finished me off entirely! How wrong was I……it was like having a friend drop by and I actually only saw you take one photo! It was a pleasure to have such a beautiful, smiling face in our midst throughout the day. You have to be the happiest looking person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We had a wonderful day and Lorna looked amazing thanks to Michelle and Debbie. I bet she will look gorgeous in the photos!

You were amazing on the day – it felt like you were one of my friends joining in the celebrations and at no point did I feel ‘oh no not more photos’. Most of the time I hardly noticed you were there and the posed shots all went really quickly. Torsten and I normally find taking photographs to be quite painful but on the day it was all way more enjoyable then I could have ever hoped it to be. Thank you very very much.

'Hello Hayley,

You little genius!! The photos are just amazing!! I gasped at the rainbow one! Where did that come from? On second thoughts, not a bit surprised that you can arrange rainbows!! Gorgeous, gorgeous! Those pics of the ceilidh are unreal - you can nearly hear the music! They are SO full of energy. You can really see that everyone is having such fun. Honestly, are they the best dancing ones you have ever done?? The other thing is, I didn't even know you were at the ceilidh - another of your magic tricks....invisibility!! I don't know how you did it but you made us all look so good in every single picture!!! I am over the moon! I'm sure Lorna is as well but I haven't even got on to her yet...just had to email you first!!

Norfolk Portrait Photography - A portrait session with Rachael, Matt and Aubrey

In between my weddings I managed to squeeze in a Portrait Session with Rachael and Matt and their gorgeous daughter Aubrey. For those of you who read this blog regularly you may remember that I photographed Rachael and Matt's Wedding at Elms Barn a few years ago. It was so lovely to catch up with them both and to meet Aubrey who is the most contented, happy and care-free little girl I've meant in a while. It was also wonderful that she was so accepting of the camera and smiled all the time!

The beach is one of Aubrey's favourite places to go to and as it's only a 5 minute walk from Rachael and Matt's house it was the perfect place to go and take some photos

Aubrey loved looking at the donkeys ..... this is the first time she's had a ride on one though and she absolutely loved it as the big grin on her face shows

I thought I'd have a go at an old fashioned poster style and I love it

Rachael also sent me the following lovely e-mail after seeing the photos which I really appreciate and hope she won't mind me sharing:

Essex Wedding Photography - The Wedding of Katy and Jim, Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club

The next wedding we photographed was Katy and Jim's day which all took place at Stoke-by-Nayland Golf Club in Essex. We had a wonderful time sharing in their celebrations and this is the first time ever for us when we've had a really sunny day at Stoke-by-Nayland so it was nice to see the grounds in all their glory and lovely that all their guests could have their drinks on the terrace. Katy's flowers were gorgeous - I love the smaller white roses mixed with the larger coloured ones

Here's Jim waiting for Katy to come in. The registrars were really kind to us as usual and let me photograph from the front and David from the back of the room so we could get a really lovely selection

Straight after the ceremony we went down in the golf buggys to the lake to take some photos of Jim and Katy on their own

A friend of Katy's made the cake and did a wonderful job as it looked fantastic (and I'm sure it tasted just as good as well)

Outside their main room there was a little balcony I took them on for a couple of photos

The speeches were done before they ate and we photographed these before leaving them to enjoy the rest of their evening

Here's a lovely large group shot of everyone - I much prefer doing these aerially (where possible) rather than in a long line as you can see everyone so much clearer

The Suffolk Wedding Show - Sunday 16th October - please come and see us

Hello all, we're very busy this end photographing portraits, weddings and generally getting albums and books ready for people hence the lack of blog posts lately for which I can only apologise.

We're also taking a lot of enquiries (and bookings) for next year so please get in fast if you are interested in us sharing in your day with you as recently we have had to turn a lot of disappointed couples away as we were booked on their dates.

Just to let you know that if you are interested in seeing more of our work, meeting us and finding out more about what we can offer then we are exhibiting at The Suffolk Wedding Show next weekend

So, on Sunday 16th October we will be at The Suffolk Wedding Show, Wherstead Park.

Matt and Mel's Wedding in New York!

Well our next wedding was very exciting and the furthest we have been so far on a job (It doesn't seem fair to refer to it as a job though when we had so much fun and were welcomed into the party!).

We had the pleasure of travelling with Matt and Mel and their friends and family to photograph their New York Wedding. Words can barely describe how kind and friendly everyone was to us welcoming us into their small party with warmth and happiness. Consequently, we have captured some fantastic images which I hope they will treasure forever. We started our day at the Radisson Lexington before going on for the ceremony at The Ladies Pavilion in Central Park, a quick photo stop at Grand Central Station and then on to their reception at The Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. Being such a different wedding for us (and because I love their photos so much) I thought I'd include more photos than usual on the blog so you can get a real feel for their day

Matt and Mel adore New York so it felt only right to start with the flag outside the hotel

Their room had the most amazing balcony to take photos on - here's Mel before the getting ready really began followed by some presents being handed out and bubbles to play with in the sunshine

Mel's mum had bought her some new charms to add to her charm bracelet but they went on the bouquet for the day first

What an amazing pair of Chanel shoes Mel had - if they'd have fitted me I may well have been asking to try them on!

Matt gave Mel a card which said some lovely things in it and a diamond necklace as a present for their day

I love the colour of the bridesmaids dresses which matched their yellow and black theme perfectly. They also looked great against the bright blue sky

Whilst I was with the girls, David started with the Matt and his bestman (Gary) getting ready

Here's Matt and Gary meeting Alison (the lady who conducted their ceremony) to go over the paperwork in the Pavilion

I love the next lot, not only of the ceremony but of Mel arriving as well

After the ceremony the guests blew some bubbles (as you weren't allowed confetti) and then we took a few group shots before spending a glorious hour with Matt and Mel to photograph them whilst the guests went on to the reception

We started in the park with some photos there first

Then on to .... can you guess?

And finally on to Times Square and The Hard Rock Cafe

They had customised M&M's (which seems even more appropriate as that's their initials) for the guests and everyone took home a Hard Rock Cafe goodie bag at the end of the night

We were allowed up on the Hard Rock Balcony overlooking Times Square to take some photos which was marvelous

Then we went down on the street for a few more photos

Then back for speeches

And then a first dance before we joined in and danced the night away with the guests

At the end of a really long day Matt and Mel caught a cab back to the hotel whilst we walked with the guests. When we got back there was just a little bit of time left to get some photos of them on their balcony to end our day with them

We have memories of your day that we will cherish forever and are very grateful that you chose us to share in it all with you. You are a gorgeous couple and were a pleasure to work with. Your friends and family who we met clearly adore you both and your closeness with them shines through in the images. Norfolk Portrait Photography - A portrait session with Eva

Recently I had the privilege of photographing the most wonderful lady called Eva at a Portrait Session in Norfolk. This was to celebrate Eva's up-and-coming 83rd birthday.

Eva was so full of life, energetic and fun to be around. If she hadn't have told me her age I would never have guessed. I can only hope that I am as sprightly as her when I get to that age.

Thanks for being a wonderful sister-in-law to me (and sister to David). We're so glad we could share in your celebrations and the 80's disco night was fab. Hope we didn't make it onto you tube with all our crazy dancing - who'd have thought I'd learn the timewarp at this age!

Leicestershire Wedding Photography - The Wedding of Louise and Joe, Scalford Hall, Melton Mowbray

Our next wedding we photographed was Louise and Joe's Wedding at Scalford Hall, Melton Mowbray . We first met Louise and Joe a couple of years ago at Jenny and Angus' Wedding which we photographed at Sweetheart Abbey up in Dumfries and Galloway. I've included the photo from Jenny and Angus' Wedding where Louise caught Jenny's bouquet and Joe looked shocked - but, these things obviously come true as we've now photographed their wedding.

Here are a few photos from their day starting with Louise and the bridesmaids getting ready

David started with the boys arriving at the church

I love this photo as Louise does exactly the same thing later when she arrives looking at her hand to see if it's shaking!

The weather was luckily nice enough for the top to be down on the car

This is Jenny with her little girl Esme (who was a flowergirl) as Louise arrived

Father Malachy was very nice to us letting me photograph from the front of the church and David from the back so we have a lovely selection of photos during the ceremony

The car man was very kind in letting confetti be thrown all over them in the car before they left (I hope we didn't cause too many hours of cleaning up for him)

The reception was a short drive from the church at Scalford Hall

The speeches were very good and the best man even did a poem all about Joe and the stag do which was fantastic, beautifully delivered and highly original. Well done Ryan!

In the evening they had a magician to entertain the guests who was very good

Louise threw her bouquet - I'll keep my fingers crossed that we get to photograph the girl who caught it's wedding in the future :-)

Their first dance was lovely and a perfect way to end our day with them

Louise and Joe were both so smiley and happy throughout their day and a pleasure to work with and photograph. It's so lovely that we were welcomed back by Joe's family who we'd met previously at Jenny's Wedding with such enthusiasm and kindness. You are all wonderful. I hope that Joe and Louise have had a fantastic honeymoon and we look forward to hearing from you guys soon about what you think of the photos once you've had the chance to look through them all. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness and good times together. We're certain that you're going to be really happy together and we hope that our paths will cross again in the future.

We'd also like to give a quick shout as well in this blog post (they may be a lot of shout outs this year as I mentioned in a previous post we are fortunate enough to work mainly on recommendation from our previous couples). So here's a big thank you to Jenny and Angus for recommending us. It was lovely to meet you both again and to meet Esme who's the new addition to your family. She is a gorgeous little girl. I've never seen a young child so happy so quickly after being woken up for photos - you truly have a little gem there!

Essex Wedding Photography - The Wedding of Karen and Luke, Dedham, Essex

The next wedding we photographed was Karen and Luke's day which all took place at Dedham in Essex at the church there and then Karen's parents house. What a beautiful house and grounds Karen's parents have - there were so many different places to take photographs it was a real treat. The Nordic tepees were also fantastic and this is the first time we've seen this done for a wedding and it worked so well and looked stunning. The girls had made Karen up a photo album as a surprise from the Hen do which they were all looking at

Whilst I was photographing the girls David started with the boys and the preparations that end

Karen and Luke had hired a vintage bus to transport their guests from nearby hotel's to the church and reception

Luke was keen for Karen to arrive and kept checking his watch

The vicar was strict with us on what photos we were allowed to take which was a little bit of a shame but we still managed to get some photos from the back of the church

I love this one of the two of them on the vintage bus - I travelled back with them first so that we could take some photos in the grounds before all their guests arrived

Karen and Luke did their speeches before they ate so that we could cover them before we left - here's just a few of those photos

Karen's details were so romantic from the rose on her dress to the beautiful country blooms and peep-toe shoes

In my opinion the tepees looked like they should permanently belong in the grounds here they fitted in so well!

Karen and Luke were a very relaxed and calm couple to work with and it was a pleasure to share their day with them. We'd also like to give a quick shout out and thank you to Sarah and Myles for recommending us. We photographed Sarah and Myle's Wedding a few years ago at Cley Windmill and Sussex barn at Burnham Market and are happy to report that Sarah and Myles are keeping and looking very well. It is a real treat for us to be able to be recommended by our past brides and grooms and this is where the majority of our work comes from which is very flattering.

Norfolk Portrait Photography - An engagement session with Jenny and Chris

Back at the end of June I got together with Jenny and Chris to have an engagement photography session in Norwich at the Plantation Gardens. Jenny and Chris are a wonderful, friendly and gorgeous couple to work with who were both at ease in front of the camera. Their session flew by and we had a great time. I just can't wait to photograph their wedding next September.
